Fire truck
2022 December 7 d.

A fire truck and power generators were transferred to Ukmergė partner cities in Ukraine

The coming winter will be very difficult for the Ukrainians who are suffering from the horrors of the war, so on 26 November and 4 December, two more shipments of aid were sent from Ukmergė to the Ukmergė District Municipality's partner cities of Kamianets-Podilsky and Korosten (Ukraine).

On 26 November, 7 petrol power generators were handed over to Korosten to help Ukrainians facing power cuts.

This time, a fire truck "ZIL-131", which was manufactured in 1977 and has been in service in Ukmergė for more than 20 years, was handed over to Kamianets-Podilsky. In 2000, the Ukmergė Fire and Rescue Service acquired the chassis of the ZIL-131 truck, which had been unused until then. The staff installed a 4 000 litre water tanker, a fire pump, water-foam system equipment and various special-purpose units on it by themselves. The truck was adapted for the delivery of firefighting equipment and supplies to the incident site. It has been successfully used by various fire brigades over the years.

This year, this vehicle was decommissioned after exceeding the number of fire trucks allowed in the Service. The fire truck is now in good working order, ready to go to any incident, equipped with all the necessary fire fighting equipment and inventory. It will be useful by the Ukrainian firefighters when fighting against fires.

Diesel infrared heaters and trench candles made by the communities of Ukmergė district were handed over together with the fire truck. These candles will allow the Ukrainian people who are fighting in the war to dry their clothes, cook food and keep warm.

The above donation has successfully reached the partner cities. We are very hopeful that this donation will help the people of Ukraine in their struggle for freedom.
