On 1-3 September, a delegation from Ukmergė District Municipality, led by the Deputy Director of the Administration, Dalė Steponavičienė, visited Hungary's partner city Kiskunmajsa for the Kiskunmajsa Town Festival. Danutė Užkurėlytė, Member of the Ukmergė District Municipality Council, Auksė Pusvaškienė, Head of the Economic Services Section of the Asset and Corporate Management Division, and Kristina Ridzevičienė, Chief Specialist of the Civil Registry and Document Management Division, also travelled to Hungary. The representatives travelled in a Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer, a municipal minibus driven by Julius Eimontas.
Kiskunmajsa has over 12 000 inhabitants and is located between the Danube and Tisza rivers. The city is famous for its thermal pools, where hot water (around 70 °C) with therapeutic properties flows from a depth of around 1800 metres and is cooled down to 38 °C in the pools.
The city festival was held for the 29th time in Kiskunmajsa. Besides representatives from Ukmergė, guests from Bad Schonborn and Lommatzsch (Germany), Lubliniec (Poland), Gheorgheni (Romania) and Topola (Serbia) participated in the events. All the delegations attended the opening ceremony, watched the award ceremony for the city's most deserving citizens, and inspected the fire truck donated by the partners from the city of Bad Schonborn to the volunteer firefighting team of this city.
Guests of the city festival visited a local organic farm, visited the exhibition of the Konecsni Gyorgy Cultural Centre, took part in the presentation of the book "The Bear" by the writer, journalist and nature photographer Laszlo Dezco, as well as visited the photo exhibition and other events, and discussed the possibilities of further cooperation between the two partner cities with the representatives of the Municipality of Kiskunmajsa.
Relations with this Hungarian city were established in 2008 through the mediation of the Honorary Citizen of Ukmergė and Kiskunmajsa, the folk artist Rimantas Zinkevičius from Ukmergė, and a Cooperation Agreement was signed between Ukmergė and Kiskunmajsa municipalities in 2015.
