Delegation of Ukmerge District Municipality Participated in the International Kaleici Old Town Festival
The Ukmerge District Municipality received an invitation from Muratpasa Mayor U. Uysal, leading to the attendance of Ukmergė's delegation at the Kaleici Old Town Festival in Turkey from October 17th to 20th.
The delegation included Daiva Gladkauskiene, Head of the Property and Corporate Management Department, Vitalija Žiūrienė, Deputy Head of the Strategic Planning and Investment Department, and Elena Jablonskaitė, Senior Specialist of the Architecture Department.
The festival was held for the ninth time and gathered representatives from 18 countries. The delegation participated in meetings with Muratpasa Mayor U. Uysal and Governor H. Sahin, a festive parade, and photographed the symbolic friendship shield at Cumhuriyet Square.
Mayor U. Uysal emphasized the importance of international cooperation in culture and addressing global issues like climate change, stating, “We can collaborate on cultural heritage and global challenges.”
The main event was the Kaleici Old Town Forum, which focused on “Migration and Intercultural Harmony.” Participants shared experiences related to migrant integration. The Ukmergė delegation presented a video about their old town and discussed cultural challenges.
The forum concluded with the“Kaleici Old Town Forum 2024” declaration, emphasizing the significance of migration and intercultural harmony, which was signed by all foreign delegations, committing to preserving heritage and promoting cooperation.
