Municipality leaders received delegations from Ukraine

During Ukmergė town celebration “Symphony for Ukmergė” delegations from 6 abroad cities partners participated in the events. On 26-27th of May we received guests from Germany (Bad Langensalza), Hungary (Kiskunmajsa), Latvia (Livani), Poland (Tarnowo Podgórne) and Ukraine (Podole Kamenec and Korosten) towns.

Two more invited delegations, one from Sakartvelo (Calendzhich) and one from Ukraine (Krasyliv), informed that they could not arrive.

Leaders of Ukmergė District Municipality: the Mayor Roland Janickas, the Deputy of the Mayor Agnė Balčiūnienė, the Director of the Administration Darius Varnas and the Deputy of the Director of the Administration Dalia Steponavičienė and administration employees met with each delegation from Ukraine.

Ukrainians first thanked Ukmergė and its residents for providing all kinds of assistance and talked about current situation in their cities and Ukraine. Guests also talked about challenges, which their self-government must encounter, and discussed other kinds of help (not only humanitarian) that is necessary for them and the ways how Ukmergė could provide such help.

We received the Deputy of the Mayor Natalia Chizhevskaya, the Head of Economy Department and the member of Town Council Vladimir Stuzhuko, the Head of Health Protection Department and the member of Town Council Nikolay Zajec and the manager of Utilities services Leonid Jakubovski from Korosten, the new partner town, which signed Cooperation agreement in April.

A representative from long-time partner of Ukmerge town, Podole Kamenec municipality, Valentyna Borkovska, who is a member of the Town Council and the associate professor from Economics faculty in Podole State university also visited Ukmergė.
