The delegation of Ukmergė District Municipality participated in the celebration of the 750th anniversary of Lublinec

On the 9-12 of June the delegation led by Rolandas Janickas, the Mayor of the Ukmergė District Municipality, participated in the 750th anniversary of Lubliniec town in Poland.

Other delegates, who came to Poland with the Mayor were: Laima Gambickienė, the adviser to the mayor, and Klavdija Stepanova, the director of Ukmergė art school.

The delegation from Ukmergė was invited to the anniversary of Lublinec because this town is a long-time partner of our municipality’s partner town Kiskunmajsa (Hungary), whom they met while attending the celebration in Kiskunmajsa in 2015.

Upon arrival in the rain-ravaged town in southern Poland, which is in the north of the historic Upper Silesia region, it became clear that events of the first day had been cancelled. The delegation took part only in the ceremonial meeting of the Town Council, which was held in the House of Culture.

Representatives of Ukmergė participated in many events of Lublinec anniversary: sports competitions, concerts held in Miejski Park, the anniversary parade, a medieval picnic, watched the performances of art groups. They also visited the company “???”, which produces cardboard packaging, and gained good practice.

“I am impressed with the organization of the celebration. We brought back many good impressions and experiences. The city is expanding, building, beautifying. I hope that after this visit, the list of our partner towns will be expanded”, said R. Janickas.

Delegations from three towns in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary took part in the celebration. The Hungarian town Kiskunmajsa has been a partner of Ukmergė District Municipality since 2015.
