The Norwegian Ambassador visited the city of Ukmergė

On 21 June 2022 the Norwegian Ambassador Ole T. Horpestad, members of the Board of the Norwegian - Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce Bjarne O. R Moller and Almantė Medžiaušienė, Director Martyna Skisaker and member of the Board of Directors of Stansefabrikken Rita Bogužaitė visited the Municipality of Ukmergė. The guests were welcomed by the Mayor of the Municipality Rolandas Janickas, the Deputy Mayor Agnė Balčiūnienė, the Director of the Administration Darius Varnas, the Deputy Director of the Administration Dalė Steponavičienė and Inga Pračkailė, the Head of the Strategic Planning, Investment and Business Development Department.

The purpose of the delegation was to visit the Ukmergė Industrial Park, owned by the Norwegian group Stafa Industrier since 2003, where the Norwegian capital UAB Stansefabrikken is operating, which is engaged in sheet metal processing, and Stansefabrikken Automotive, which manufactures stamped automotive parts.

During their visit to the Municipality, the guests were briefly introduced to Ukmergė by showing a film about the city. The Mayor was pleased to see not only excellent business development, but also community involvement. The example of the cross-country run of the factories was mentioned, which promotes running and cycling, and encourages people of all ages to spend their free time actively in nature.

"Thank you for always supporting the Foundation for Gifted Children and Youth, and for your support during the war in Ukraine," said R. Janickas.

"You are one of the businesses with a sustainability strategy that we are proud of, we have a good relationship and we want to see more of these businesses set up in Ukmergė, because then you can offer a lot of good jobs. At present we have the task of making sure that people have a place to settle and that the city becomes an attractive place for young families not only to work but also to live," said the Mayor.

Guests were interested in what incentives are foreseen for start-up businesses and whether a free economic zone is envisaged.

"There is a possibility to exempt businesses from property and land tax, and there are plans to establish a new enterprise zone, but we are already late in establishing a free economic zone, so we are focusing on the efficiency of existing businesses. A solar park is currently under construction, which is one of the largest green manufacturing projects currently under development in Lithuania," said Mr R. Janickas.

Later, the delegation visited the Ukmergė Industrial Park, where a presentation and introduction to the Stafa Group took place, including excursions to the industrial production and product companies Stansefabrikken Ukmergė, Brav LT and Stansefabrikken Automotive.
