Two buses donated by Ukmergė institutions went to Ukraine
On the afternoon of 9 September, buses donated by two Ukmergė district municipality subordinate institutions – Ukmergė Social Services Centre (SSC) and Ukmergė Bus Fleet UAB – departed for the Ukrainian partner cities of Korosten and Krasyliv.
The 9-seater "Ford Transit" minibus and the 38-seater "Volvo B6" bus, which are no longer used for the activities of these institutions, have been handed over to Vadym Mykolayovich Didkivsky and Viktor Leonidovich Zarudensky, the delegated mayoral representatives of the municipalities of Korosten and Krasyliv. The documents of the buses were handed over to the Ukrainians by the mayor of Ukmergė district municipality Rolandas Janickas and the director of Ukmergė SSC Kristina Karpovienė.
According to the Ukrainians, both buses will be handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces. The buses set off for Ukraine loaded with humanitarian aid, including long shelf-life foods such as flour, cereals, sugar, canned vegetables, canned meat, etc., as well as hygiene products, women's, men's and children's clothing and footwear. The items were purchased with funds from the Ukmergė district municipal administration and the non-governmental organization Lithuanian Caritas, and the clothes and footwear donated by the residents of Ukmergė were handed over by the representatives of the Youth Leisure Centre.
The people of Ukraine, who are fighting and living through the horrors of war, desperately need not only moral but also material support. We invite, encourage and remind you that you can support Ukraine personally by transferring funds to the Ukmergė district municipality account listed below:
